HOOK your audience

It takes 2-3 seconds for users to decide whether they want to watch your video. A strong hook is crucial for keeping your audience engaged and watching your video. Try hooking your audience with an interesting or shocking statistic (ex: “100% of brands wish they’d hired Honeypot sooner”). You can also keep your hook simple and get to the point (“5 Ways to Make Your Videos Stand Out”). I also love using visual hooks, like running up to the camera.


Establish your credibility

Let your audience know who you are and why they should listen to you (ex: “I’m an aesthetician with 5 years of experience with acne care.”). You have a unique perspective to offer your audience that will make your brand stand out amongst competitors. 


Add fun sound effects

Most people have a short attention span while scrolling through social media. Adding fun sound effects to your video content will keep your audience engaged throughout the video. Talking about money? Add a cha-ching sound. Busting a myth? Add a negative beeper sound like it’s a game show. 


Use a dynamic background

A dynamic background can be achieved with a green screen or can be as simple as filming a video while walking. If you’re a realtor sharing home-buying tips, create a video walking through the house instead of a static video of you talking.


Break it down with animation

If you’re explaining a complicated concept, using animation can improve understanding for users while also keeping them engaged. Animations are especially effective if you mentioned a lot of numerical data in your video (ex: comparing car prices). 


Don’t be afraid to show your personality
