It’s the new year and before we know it, it’ll be the end of January! If you haven’t already, this is the perfect time to refresh your social media strategy. You’ve probably been hearing this for months. After all, the end of the year/beginning of the new year is always a prime time to reflect, create new goals, and get organized.
If you have found yourself putting off the task, this is your sign to sit down and get it done. If you’re new to revising a social media strategy, there are 3 simple things you can do to at least get you on the right track.
1. Revisit your top posts!
This is probably one of the easiest tasks you can do when it comes to revising your social strategy and it gives you a clear picture of what has worked for you in the past. We recommend taking a look at your top posts from the last quarter and even from the last year. Identify what themes, types of content formats, or topics worked best for you.
2. Repurpose your content!
This leads us directly to task number 2. Repurposing content can be done in many different ways. For example, taking a look at your top posts, you can choose to reshare the post as is, take the caption and create a different post, or even take the contents of the post and present it differently.Â
Chances are, if you are posting consistently, reposting/repurposing won’t be repetitive to your audience. If the content is valuable, it could be a good refresher for those who may have already seen it. Not to mention that you’ve probably also gained an audience since the content was last posted too.
Overall, the trick is not to worry. Valuable content is valuable content and in the world of social media, repurposing is your friend.
3. Diversify if you can!
On the topic of repurposing content, the beginning of the new year is also the perfect opportunity to decide if you want to diversify your content!
What exactly do we mean by that? Well, do you have the bandwidth to try a new social platform, or maybe try and put more effort into an existing account you already have? With the ability to repurpose, cross-posting to different platforms is easier than ever. If the content is already being created and you can cross-post and still find it manageable, it could be a great opportunity to reach a new audience or open new opportunities.
And if you need a few examples -
Instagram carousel post -> LinkedIn post, TikTok photo carousel, X or Threads Thread
TikTok -> IG Reel, FB Reel, or YouTube Short
Blog Post -> Pinterest Pin or an IG Carousel
The opportunities to transform content into other formats are endless!
Starting with these 3 tasks, you can revise and improve your strategy in this new year without feeling overwhelmed or stressed. Challenge yourself to rework some older posts that are already proven to perform well and see if you can take one piece of content and turn it into many. You’re already on your way to a new and improved strategy!
